Captain’s log. stardate 06022021

Tuesday, June 1.

Last night we were too exhausted to blog or vlog or frankly to move.  We made  56.4 miles from St Joseph to Holland between 12 pm and 730 pm.  It was all diesel, no wind.  Missing that Monday departure really hurt us.  We’ve been chasing the wind ever since.

But it was a gorgeous day with a Lake like glass and very little in the way of company.  Good time to make friends with Twoflower, including having me steer.

Feather seems okay with her new lot in life.

We saw a few diving buoys and passed them by, but we had some time so we decided to chase one down and use the drone to see what was there.  Unfortunately, the first one we decided to peek at was a Mylar balloon.  We rescued it, (because it’s good practice for picking up people and errant hound-dogs out of the water).  We ended up rescuing two of these on Tuesday and one on Wednesday.  Stop buying these things!

By evening, we were all tired  (Feather was wiped out).

We anchored offshore in Lake Makatawa for the night. Near the East end of Holland State Park.  We could smell their campfires and hear their fireworks.    Dinner, prepared under sail, erm...under motor?...was a nice chicken curry. Bed was welcomed by all.

  1. If ever back in Holland: El Huarache north of the lake/city a little ways is great tacos and homemade frozen deserts on a stick. :-)
